A sneak peek at Morphoses’ activity creation journey.

…based on Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory film.

Assuming you are unfamiliar with Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Film, let us share the plot real quick. The film is about a poor child named Charlie Bucket who, after finding a Golden Ticket in a chocolate bar, visits Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory along with four other children from around the world.

Just like the five children had the chance to take a glimpse of how the best chocolate in the world was made, you shall have the opportunity to sneak peek at Morphoses’ activity creation journey too! Fasten your seat belts — this is going to be a fun ride!

The quality of the chocolate.

Willy Wonka, the owner of the Chocolate Factory prioritized the quality of his product. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have made the best chocolate in the world! Following his example, the primary goal of the Morphoses Team is to reassure the quality and the efficacy of the material the instructors present our learners with.

Therefore, when the instructors share their desire to create an activity, we provide our… best cocoa seeds, aka our research approach. Our approach has been created via a thorough literature review and research. Since some people love dark chocolate, others prefer milk chocolate with almonds, we encourage our instructors to follow, enhance and adapt our approach to their own needs and interests.

The recipe.

Toddlers usually prefer milk chocolate or candies. Later on, they get to know the magnificent world of ice cream. In adolescence, many teens wouldn’t say no to a triple chocolate waffle (or anything over 5000 calories). What we are trying to say is that during different age periods, the needs and priorities change! So, the first step our instructors need to follow is to decide which target group they are aiming for and why.

Do you think that Willy Wonka would have made it if he hadn’t acquired a deep knowledge and understanding of… the origins of chocolate? He knows how to roast and winnow the cocoa, grind the cocoa nibs and mold the chocolate. We are on the same page here! Deep knowledge via research is the key to excel. Therefore, our instructors are given the Morphoses Soft Skills/ age diagram, in which they can find which soft skills are enhanced in ages 6 to 18. This way, they can choose what soft skill(s) their activity shall focus on and why. And let’s not forget the precious parameter of time! How long do we want this activity to last?

In order to create a chocolate bar that makes everyone’s mouth water, Willy Wonka needed to check a few more criteria boxes. Is this a chocolate bar for everyone?

This is exactly what we did, too! Is our “chocolate bar”… fun & interactive? Inquiry-based & inclusive? Actually enhancing the soft skill(s) we are going for? Last but not least, we pay attention to all the possible digital tools we can use in order to create a better experience for our learners.

And, as some chocolates (the best ones if you ask us) come with a little surprise (probably a small toy), we could not leave you either without a little surprise: our Morphoses Community of Instructors. When the whole process of creating the activity is over, and the Morphoses Content Team has approved it, the instructors share their activity with the rest of the Morphoses Community to receive feedback.

So what do you say? Ready to have a taste?

Note. Just like the tour to the Chocolate Factory wasn’t about sharing the entire recipes with the children, but it was more of a... tiny taste, likewise, we shared with you simply the general principles of our approach.
