Kids’ well-being: a common goal that unites parents, teachers and employers

In honor of World Mental Health Day (October 10th), this piece is dedicated to
everyone out there ensuring our kids’ mental health.

In the last three years, young people are up to 50% more likely to face mental health difficulties. Surveys have shown that one in six children aged 5 to 16 was identified as struggling with their mental health. That’s five children in every classroom!

We all experienced the traumatic impact coronavirus had on our mental health. To be more precise, 83% of young people with preexisting mental health needs agreed that the coronavirus pandemic had made their mental health worse. To this end, one of our primary goals at Morphoses is to build a community that works towards strengthening children’s mental health.

After all, the link between mental health and soft skills is undeniable, since mental health influences how we think, feel and act. It can play a vital role in how we handle stress, relationships, and decision-making.

Knowing that, all the important figures in a kid’s life try their best to help them further enhance these vital skills that are key to preserving one’s mental health; soft skills.

We value that…

  • Parents make every effort to offer their children all the necessary tools to build their emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
  • Teachers seek to create a warm and welcoming environment where every student will feel included and heard.
  • Employers provide childcare benefits for their employees’ families.
  • Children themselves understand the importance of mental health.

However, although the majority of people cherish their mental health, 39.2% of 6 to 16-year-olds have experienced deterioration in mental health since 2017.

What can we do to help? Morphoses is here to set the foundations.

As an ed-tech company that focuses on the enhancement of soft skills in children aged 6 to 17, we work with well-trained tutors who share the Morphoses values. Their primary goal is to form a warm and inclusive digital environment where all learners feel a sense of belonging.

Our tutors work on carefully structured educational activities which expose young learners to unpredicted situations, call for them to take action, make decisions and collaborate, gradually building on key traits such as their teamwork, emotional intelligence, critical thinking and many more. These skills, the so-called soft skills, reinforce the kids’ well-being and help them become successful, happy individuals.

Lastly, we should not suppose that tackling and eventually ending mental health stigma involves only those directly affected by mental health. Everyone can do so, as long as they have the necessary soft skills.

And this is exactly where Morphoses comes in. We equip young people with all they need to become collaborative, flexible, confident, empathetic grown-ups, who do their best to spread the universal message of equality in health, with their daily effort and actions.
